Blaine Ventilation Systems & Indoor Air Quality Service & Repair

Ideal Air offers solutions to indoor air quality (IAQ) problems with factory-trained, EPA-certified installers and 24-hour emergency service.

There are many factors that contribute to the quality of air in your home and many different ways to improve your home’s air quality. The most common sources of poor IAQ come from chemicals, pollens and living organisms like mold and pests. These pollutants can build up in our homes, causing eye irritation, itchy nose, headaches, sinus problems, and can lead to even bigger concerns for people suffering from asthma.

Luckily, there are solutions to help improve your home’s indoor air quality, and Ideal Air can help!

Maintaining a comfortable level of humidity in the home, especially during the winter months, can be challenging. Indoor heating systems reduce the already dry air in your home. Whole house humidifiers work to bring the indoor relative humidity to a comfortable level. The perfect humidity level will help prevent drying of nasal passages, which can lead to sore throats and coughs. Whole house humidifiers relieve symptoms for those suffering from allergies and asthma, and reduce static electricity.  Maintaining optimal humidity also helps to keep wooden furniture, doors, and floors from shrinking during the dry season. Interestingly, dry air is perceived to be colder than it is – which can lead to higher heating bills.

Equally important to establishing the proper level of humidity, is keeping your whole house humidifier clean. Change filters regularly. Otherwise, you could introduce allergens, like bacteria or mold into the air.

Ideal Air can install a Whole House Humidifier that will maintain the proper level of humidity in your home.

During the Minnesota summer months, as the heat rises, so does the humidity. That muggy air outside creates excess humidity inside that can feel just as thick and unbearable. Not only does it affect your comfort, but high levels of humidity in the home can create an environment where contaminants like mold and bacteria thrive. Installing a whole house dehumidifier is one of the most effective and energy efficient ways to remove humidity from your home. It can be installed as part of your home’s heating and cooling system and works to reduce moisture in your home to a comfortable level.

Ideal Air can help you select the whole house dehumidifier that will give you control over humidity levels and air quality throughout your house.

Studies have shown that HVAC UV Light systems are an effective means of killing mold, bacteria, germs, and odors to improve indoor air quality.

There are two types of UV lights for HVAC systems:

Coil Sterilization – A stick-type light that is installed inside the return air duct that sterilizes the air handler coil.  The coil sterilization light runs 24/7 and is the most common type.

Air Sterilization – A complete UV light unit that sterilizes the moving air.  The UV light unit is installed in the return air duct and cycles on with the air handler blower.

Maintenance is quite simple and involves changing the light bulbs during annual HVAC service.  The energy cost is low, adding about $2.00 per month to your energy bills.

HVAC UV lights are most effective when indoor air quality basics have been followed, including installing high-MERV filters and regular maintenance that includes changing filters monthly and cleaning the coil annually.

Air Exchangers are used to exchange the air between an outdoor and indoor space.  An air exchanger will replenish particulate and toxin rich indoor air with natural, fresh outdoor air.  An air filter is attached to the Air Exchanger to ensure incoming air is filtered from allergens, dust or pollutants.  The Air Exchanger can be installed into your existing air conditioning or heating system.

Indoor air can become polluted and can, at times, be more polluted than outside.  When fresh air is not introduced into your home, the air becomes stagnant.  Poor quality air can aggravate asthma, lung and respiratory diseases.  Often symptoms appear as fatigue, dry eyes, headaches, and nasal congestion.

Ideal Air can help you select an Air Exchanger that will improve air quality inside your home and will work with most existing central air conditioning and furnace HVAC equipment.

Electronic air cleaners, ionizers or electronic air purifiers, use electrically charged filters to reduce the number of airborne contaminants in your home.  As air passes through your heating and cooling system, the electronic air cleaner traps large particles (such as dust and dander) in a pre-filter. Then, electrically charged filters attract and trap smaller particles (such as bacteria and mold) to prevent them from recirculating through your home.

Maintenance is easy. The filters are reusable and can be removed and washed every few months.

Some electronic air cleaners can emit low levels of ozone.  Look for purifiers that don’t generate ozone, use efficient filters that have a MERV (minimum efficiency reporting value) rating of 10 or higher.

Air Purifiers address indoor air pollutants to purify the air within your home to fresh, safe quality air.  Stale and contaminated indoor air can contribute to chronic and acute lung and respiratory conditions. These pollutants: mold spores, bacteria and viruses, secondhand tobacco smoke, carbon monoxide and lead dust, are known as silent destroyers as most people can’t even tell that they’re present. A high-quality home air purifier works to remove up to 99% of the dangerous air pollutants within your home.

Ideal Air can recommend the Air Purifier best suited to your needs. We work with reputable manufacturers that provide highly efficient Air Purifiers.

At Ideal Air we pride ourselves on a high level of professionalism by following local codes and installation standards while maintaining a high level of ethical business practices.
